How do I get the Verified badge on my profile?

Updated 26 September 2026

You get the Verified badge by taking a short selfie in the app; we compare it with your profile photos, then delete the selfie.

Steps

  1. Open your profile from the bottom bar.
  2. Tap Get verified.
  3. Follow the pose shown on screen and take the selfie. Use good light and keep your face fully visible.
  4. Wait for the check to finish. Your selfie is compared with the photos on your profile.
  5. Once it matches, the Verified badge appears next to your handle.

Verification is optional. You can use Ohrny without it, but many people prefer to match with verified profiles, and Plus members can filter the deck to show verified profiles only.

What happens with the selfie

  • The selfie is used for one thing: comparing it with your profile photos.
  • After the comparison it is deleted. It is never shown to other people and never added to your profile.
  • Your profile photos stay blurred for everyone as usual. The badge does not reveal anything.

Good to know

  • The badge shows on your profile even while your photos are blurred, so people know they are talking to a real person before any reveal.
  • The badge is tied to the photos that were on your profile at the time of the check. If you replace all of your photos, you may be asked to verify again.
  • Verification does not share your name, your date of birth or any document with anyone. Ohrny does not ask for ID.
  • If the check does not match, try again with better light, no sunglasses or hat, and a photo on your profile that clearly shows your face.
  • Seeing a Verified badge on someone else means their selfie matched their photos. It is a good sign, but still follow the usual safety advice when you meet.
