How does the mutual photo reveal work in a chat?

Updated 26 September 2026

Photos on Ohrny are blurred for everyone until both people in a chat tap I'm ready; at that moment photos, age and distance appear for both of you at the same time.

Steps

  1. Open a chat with a match.
  2. Tap I'm ready at the top of the chat when you feel comfortable showing yourself.
  3. Wait for the other person. They see that you are ready, but nothing is revealed yet.
  4. When they tap I'm ready too, the reveal happens for both of you in the same moment. You now see each other's clear photos, age and distance.

Until both have tapped, nothing changes. There is no way for one person to see the other first.

Re-blurring

You can undo a reveal at any time.

  1. Open the chat.
  2. Tap the reveal status at the top and choose Blur again.
  3. Your photos, age and distance go back to blurred for that person.

The other person gets a quiet note in the chat that you have re-blurred. No alert, no explanation required. They can do the same to you at any time.

Good to know

  • The reveal is per chat. Revealing yourself to one match does not reveal you to anyone else.
  • Age and distance are part of the reveal. If you are a Plus member and have turned on Hide age or Hide distance, those stay hidden even after the reveal.
  • Video calls follow the same rule: the video preview is blurred until you have both revealed.
  • The screenshot shield stays on in chats after a reveal. If someone tries to capture the chat, you are told about it.
  • Blurred photos still show shape, colours and setting, enough to get a feel for someone, but not enough to identify them. That is the point.
  • If you unmatch or block someone, they lose access to the chat and to any revealed photos in it.
